I spent the first three years of my life traveling throughout Europe atop my father’s shoulders, and I have kept my passport at the ready ever since.
I have since returned to Europe several times (from a lower vantage point). I’ve also conversed with monks in Asia, rappelled waterfalls in South America, swum with wild seals in Mexico, trekked Alaska’s glaciers, cat-skied the Rockies, and enjoyed the salsa (both the dancing and the red kind) in Central America. My travels and adventures have given me an appreciation of foreign cultures and an awareness of environmental and humanitarian stewardship that remains a large part of who I am today.
I invite you to visit the Writing section of this website and my blog for travel stories and photos. I also write the Get Outside Yourself travel blog for the Seattle PI online newspaper.
In addition to travel writing, I am leading an initiative to conduct a deaf education teacher training program at the Thuan An Center in Vietnam. There is a significant need for more knowledge among Vietnamese teachers about how to effectively help children with hearing loss acquire the the language skills and education they need for life success. Please click here to visit the Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss website.
I am an Associate with the Adventure Travel Trade Association and am a member of Lions Club International and the Washington Environmental Council.
A compass is a tool that directs you to a destination. It can also be an analogy for your conscious - the gauge that influences the decisions you make about the life you lead, the work you do, and how you spend your time.
I listened to my internal compass in leaving corporate life for a more creative one that combines my talents and interests. My travel writing is intended to guide the curious to unexplored places, and I help companies achieve their marketing goals with professional copy writing and editorial services.
Now Compass is ready to help YOU get to where you want to go from here.
